Brent A. BakerManaging Principal

Mr. Baker is managing principal for Studio16:19!  Brent’s knowledge from Texas A&M University and almost 20 years or professional experience in urban design, planning, landscape architecture and context sensitive solutions has provided him with an in-depth understanding of and sensitivity to the environment and use of the land for public benefit. Because of his diverse background on multidisciplinary teams, he has had the opportunity to work on the design and construction of large-scale residential subdivisions, mixed-use retail / commercial, corporate campuses, urban streetscapes, medical resorts, park master plans, municipal facilities, and context sensitive solutions for transportation projects.  He is also a mentor and studio leader who strives for principle level involvement for all studio projects from proposal through construction and carries the philosophy of listening to the client to find the right solutions for the land based challenges the project presents….

What is on your bucket list?

Travel is on my bucket list! A few places that still need check’s by them…Italy, London, Australia, & Hawaii just to list a few!

What song would you say best describes your life?

There is a song that has recently become the banner for which I have been marching under and that is “‘Til the Day I Die” by Toby Mac. Here is a little exert from the chorus …”Till the wheels fall off; Till the spotlight fades; I will lift your banner high; Lord I’ll lift your banner high; And till the walls crash in; For the rest of my days; I’ll lay it all on the line; Till the day I die!”

Are you involved in any community organizations/charity?

Giving is better than receiving and I tend to gravitate towards organizations that give and provide hope to those who need it. Mission of Hope Haiti, Children at Heart Ministries, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, and the YMCA are just a few of the organizations that I chose to invest my time, treasure, & talents.

If you could get anything for free for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chick-Fil-A! In the words of Tim Hawkins…”Chick-fil-A, I could eat their seven times a day. Where the people laugh and children play, Oh I’m in love with Chick-fil-A.”

Do you have a favorite quote?

I do not have a specific quote as I tend to have many…as they are all situation dependent. Staff, friends, and family fondly refer to these as “Brentisims!” But to throw one out there…”Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally!”
