“To create a better everyday life for many people,” this is the IKEA vision. With vision comes success and growth and IKEA Round Rock was out growing their current warehouse space and needed to expand to continue to offer the wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products to the people of Central Texas. The original key design team & consultancy were reassembled from the IKEA debut to Round Rock in 2005, and collaborated to insure the new 50,000 SF warehouse expansion and 3 story parking garage were contextually appropriate and did not adversely affect the user experience. The result was nestling the additions within the groves of existing live oaks and providing new opportunities for signage to draw users into the site, yet maintaining an aesthetic landscape experience at the new gateway to the retail center.
