To meet the needs of the growing Georgetown community, the City purchased the adjacent properties and chose KAH Architecture and Chasco Constructors as the Design-Build team for a new, modern facility. Due to the location of the station and the proximity to the nearby residential area, the design team collaborated to blend the new facility with the neighborhood for residential scale and context. The front of the building facing Williams Drive provides a visual reference to a large “home” with its articulation and architectural features and is enhanced by the native and adaptive “fire safe landscape” plantings. The design and construction of this new station not only provides the fire fighters with much needed space, areas for respite/ exercise, and a training space in order to perform their duties, but it also gives the neighborhood an attractive municipal building that will last for many years to come.
